ALGEBRA 2 TUTORIAL

TOPIC: Determine Whether The Point Given Is A Solution of the inequality.>

EXAMPLES:
@ 2X+3Y≧5;(4,-1)
2(4)+3(-1)=8-3 PLUG X AND Y INTO THE INEQUALITY.
=5≧5 DETERMINE WHETHER THE ANSWER MATCHES THE INEQUALITY.
(4,-1)IS A SOLUTION.

A 19X+Y≧-0.5;(2,3)
19(2)+3=41
≧-0.5
(2,3)IS A SOLUTION.

B Y>-9X+7;(-2,2)
Y+9X-7>0 MOVE THE NUMBERS TO THE LEFT SIDE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO SOLVE IT.
2+9(-2)-7=2-18-7 PLUG X AND Y INTO THE INEQUALITY.
=-23<0 FOR THIS PROBLEM, THE ANSWER DOESN'T MATCH THE INEQUALITY.
(-2,2)IS NOT A SOLUTION.

PRACTICE:
T. Tell which point is a solution of 3X-Y>4.
a.(3,4) b.(3/4,0) c.(0,0) d.(4/3,0)

U.Check whether the given ordered pairs are solutions of the inequality.
a.X≦-5;(0,2),(-5,1)
b.2Y≧7;(1,6),(0,4)
