2.You are working on a project in woodshop. You have a wooden stick that is 93 inches long. You need to cut the stick so that one piece is 8 inches longer than the other piece. How long should each piece be?

Solutions

1. D= r*t

Distance= 715

Rate= 40

Time= t

715 = t (40)

715/40 =t

t= 18

The boat ride will take 18 hours

2. X+8= piece 1

X= piece 2

Piece 1 + piece 2 = 93 inches

2x+8= 93

93-8 = 2x

85=2x

X=42.5 (piece 2)

X+8=50.5 (piece1)
