Algebra2 Tutorial [1.1]

The numbers used most often in algebra are the real numbers.

Subsets of the real numbers

Whole: The numbers that start from 0 and simply go on like 0,1, 2, 3, 4,……(and so on)

Ex: 21, 5, 11

Integer: The numbers with no fractional part. Include the counting numbers {1,2,3…}, zero, and the negative of the counting numbers {-1, -2, -3…}

Rational: Any number that can be written as a ratio

Irrational: Random decimals that go on forever

Practice Problems

  Graph the numbers on a number line. Write the numbers in increasing order.

  Define numbers whole, integer, rational, or irrational. Some numbers have more than one answer.
